Michael S. Edwards is an attorney-at-law with over 18 years of experience representing credit unions, credit union service organizations (CUSOs), financial technology companies, trade associations, non-profit organizations, government contractors, and small businesses in the United States and around the world on a wide range of regulatory, transactional, compliance and other legal matters.  He has served as Senior Vice President for Advocacy and General Counsel of the World Council of Credit Unions and was Senior Assistant General Counsel in the Regulatory Advocacy section of the Credit Union National Association (now called America’s Credit Unions), the largest trade association for credit unions in the United States.

In addition to facilitating business transactions, regulatory matters, and litigation, Michael has spoken on a wide range of prudential safety and soundness, financial consumer protection, Bank Secrecy Act, field of membership, cybersecurity, accounting, corporate governance, due diligence and other credit union regulatory requirements.  He has been published on credit union and banking regulatory issues by CUES‘s CUmanagment.com, the Administrative Law Review, Credit Union Times, CUInsight, Enterprise Magazine and other publications.  He holds a J. D. from American University-Washington College of Law, an M.A. in International Affairs from American University-School of International Service and a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
